From the start of its activities the Provincial Industrial Park of Cagliari has been operating with a function of support for the economical and productive development in the Cagliari metropolitan area, through the management of the Cagliari Industrial Park.
The Park is divided into three conglomerate areas: Elmas, Macchiareddu and Sarroch, for a total of 9,244 hectares (22,826 acres) recognised by and part of the territorial town planning scheme in the coordination of the same area.
Over the years the physical aspects of the infrastructures have become integrate part of several instrumental functions of the evolution of the Sardinian industrial realities, such as the container port , the environmental platform, the industrial incubators and the telematic pole.
